The concept of Cybersecurity can be extremely complex, and a lot of businesses can be left thinking ‘so what?’. The reality is that a lot of organisations think it won’t happen to them, and don’t have the necessary precautions in place to prevent an attack, or to recover if they should fall victim to a cyber attack.
Most SMEs lack the financial capability to back an extensive cybersecurity programme, which is why EnterpriseRed has introduced the DarkBeam Cyber Exposure (CYX) Report as a first step for small and medium businesses towards managing their cyber risk. For only £200+VAT, the report will provide organisations with a score from 0 – 999. Think of this as being similar to a credit score rating; ideally you want as high a score as possible. The lower the score the higher the cyber risk the organisation faces. However, this is not to say that organisations who score highly are automatically protected from cyber threats.
The report itself identifies what information can be found on the internet by cyber criminals regarding an organisation. It checks the current exposure on what information relating to the domain and email address is currently out there, exposing past data leakage, and also potential misconfiguration of the web server and exposure of the email servers that could pose a risk to the organisation. For SMEs in particular this is a solid foundation to begin implementing the necessary changes to protect their organisation.
The DarkBeam Cyber Exposure Report is an initial ‘barometer’ of an organisation’s Cyber Exposure and is a first step to other more detailed vulnerability assessments or penetration testing. The Cyber Exposure Report is the equivalent of a Buyer’s Report in purchasing a property, versus a full structural survey that could be offered from a more expensive Vulnerability or Penetration Test.
